Sara :)

Arya and I decided to team up for this one - this is for you, Sara :)













Essentially the premise of this blog is to call you out on your many politically incorrect statements (maybe we should make a Google doc for you instead of Mrs. Valentino). 

I know Arya is discussing your obsession with drawing your friends as monkeys, so I'll talk a bit about using an Indian accent to comfort those around you. The other day when Ivana was stressed you were somehow supportive, hilarious, and definitely politically incorrect in your attempt to console her. I'm not quite sure how you managed to do it, but I need to take some notes.

It's not to say that I don't appreciate the way you speak. You always manage to lighten up a room with your presence and funny comments. When you say "politically incorrect" things - it somehow makes the conversation better and keeps it lighthearted. Thank you for that :)

I'm glad we ended up in the same English class because I would never have met you otherwise. And even though I love making fun of you, I appreciate your presence, the funny stories you tell, and how much you care about those around you. 

Ok - I definitely went way off track with this one and Arya is definitely going to kill me for being too nice (Arya if you're reading this, I'm trying not to get canceled for hate speech here). But the moral of the story is that the way you use language is interesting and most certainly not "politically correct" but you are truly a wonderful person and I'm glad to have you in my life.

    This was definitely way nicer than Arya's but still so funny lol. She drew chickens on my calc notes and put my name down as Bob the Builder when I fell asleep so it's well deserved 💀💀

    Well you might as well have written a love letter. I’m disappointed in you Biz, but your point stands true. Being politically incorrect really isn’t an issue in lighthearted situations, and actually can be more effective than speaking correctly. - Arya

    This is was so sweet! I agree that Sara makes our class very fun and I love her for all of her eccentricities :) This was a very original take on P.C., which also made it all the more enjoyable to read!

    Aww I loved this. Not the reference to my break down...
    But her accent was funny. It sounded like I was being lectured but in a way it felt comforting cuz it was so bad that there was no way for me not to laugh. Princess Poppy really does liven up our english class.

    Man this this so sweetttttttt :) although the picture leaves a lot to be desired... please don't make a doc of what I say, one is more than enough (and NO you CANNOT see it :))
    I feel like a lot of the time the fact that our parents are Indian is used to attack us. Their expectations based in the fact that they left everything they ever knew just to support us. Their life experiences are used to guilt us into trying to live up to every unreasonable expectation. Being able to poke fun at our Indianness gives me the ability to take back a little bit of power. Because honestly speaking I'm not making fun of the Indian accent, I'm making fun of our parents' accents. They sometimes do more harm than good with their voices.

The Average High School Experience (...right?)

My eyes dilated at the paper in front of me. I tried to control my breathing as I felt myself hyper-focusing on the crinkle at the top of the page. This is an imminent disaster. Why did I let him pass the paper to me? I should’ve just gotten it myself. There’s something so beautiful about a flat, perfect sheet of paper - why would anyone want to ruin it? Honestly, the assignment is barely worth doing if the paper is wrinkled. I attempt to refocus on the teacher’s lecture (something about poetry?) but there’s no use. The crease controls me.

Make Sleeping Cool Again

I still can't begin to understand how people manage to function off of 2-3 hours of sleep every night. And yet, everyone seems to be doing it? There's no doubt that we've turned it into some crazy competition. I'm already prepared to walk in tomorrow and hear the following conversation: "oh my godddddd. i literally stayed up until midnight to finish that blog post." "that means you basically got 6 hours of sleep. ugh you're so luckyyyyy. i stayed up till 3." So, not only are we invalidating others' problems, but we are also creating a culture that encourages others to make unhealthy choices for bragging rights. It's not the only thing we do it for either: "you wrote your ap seminar paper three days before it was due? i did mine the literal day it was due."
